Cross-Curricular Residential KS2 Trips

It's no surprise that our most popular packages, especially those for 3, 4 or 5 day residentials, are "cross-curricular" - that is to say they offer a mixture of learning opportunities in a range of subjects and topics which span the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.

A typical cross-curricular school trip might include visits to historical locations and artefacts, galleries, theme parks, animal attractions, the study of human and physical geographical features, outdoor and indoor physical activities and so much more...

Cross-curricular trips are favoured by schools planning end of Y6 reward visits, because there's something for everyone irrespective of their particular preferences. A good dollop of fun activities are usually included in the mix - evening activities predominantly - to add to the fun element and party atmosphere.

Recent Example Cross-Curricular Primary Trip (5 days)

Location: The Isle of Wight

Just a few miles off the south coast of England, the Isle of Wight offers an incredibly diverse range of learning opportunities for all ages and abilities, all within a small geographical area.

The Island (as locals call it) is easily accessible by ferry or hovercraft flight and we find that for most students this is the first time they have been on a ship, which makes the journey all the more special. It's like going abroad, but without all the hassle of passports, money exchange or language barriers!

Transport: Door-to-door Service

Our client departed school in Greater London at 08:00, collected by one of our executive coaches, and headed to Southampton in time for the 11:00 ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight. The crossing takes around an hour - just long enough for the initial excitement to wear off and for a quick packed lunch before the fun begins in the afternoon!

Along the journey you can observe a number of human and physical geography features, including a ria and a large sandy spit. There are a number of supporting resources and worksheets that you could utilise to make the most of this time.

Accommodation: Exclusive Use Hotel

PrimarySchoolTrips.com offers a wide range of safe, secure accommodation types depending on location, requirements and budget.

Due to the size of this party (55) we were able to secure a small independent hotel for the week, for the exclusive use of the party. Students slept 2-3 to a room with teachers strategically placed in singles/twins for ease of supervision. The hotel provided 3 meals per day and plenty of recreation space, including a room for a last night disco.

Activities: Something for Everyone!

Our group kicked off their jam-packed week by going tree climbing! Fully supervised, of course, and with all equipment provided, they inched their way to the top of a 60ft oak tree for a look across the Solent back to the mainland. After checking in to the hotel and having dinner, it was a walk along the promenade for a round of crazy golf before bed.

Next up was a trip to a donkey sanctuary, with hands-on animal activities such as grooming and walking. Then off to Queen Victoria's holiday home Osborne House. After dinner, a game of laser tag.

The group were taught to surf in Sandown Bay, went to the theatre, had a steam train ride, visited a theme park and a model village, took a boat trip to the world-famous Needles stacks and lighthouse, went fossil hunting, climbed to the top of a medieval castle and even had a professional DJ for their last night disco party before the trip home!

Outcomes: Student Feedback

Let's just leave this to the students...

Costs: The $64,000 Question!!

Please remember: all PrimarySchoolTrips.com packages are bespoke and therefore so will be the total cost. We are more than happy to provide a quote for your exact requirements and to offer suggestions on ways to limit the overall cost.

If this exact package was replicated in June 2026 then allowing for inflation we would expect it to cost around £320 per person, fully inclusive of transport, accommodation, meals, activities and all disbursements such as parking, tolls, ferry crossings etc. but excluding VAT, which most schools can reclaim.
